MDM Publishing Ltd, publishers of International Fire Protection (IFP), International Fire Fighter (IFF), Asia Pacific Fire (APF) and Gulf Fire magazines, is delighted to announce a new addition to their editorial team.
Phil Martin will be joining MDM in September following a 34-year career in the UK Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) where he served in a wide range of roles at all ranks including Chief Fire Officer.
Phil is a Fellow of the Institution of Fire Engineers and a graduate of the UK FRS Executive Leadership Programme. His career started as a Junior Firefighter with the Somerset Fire Brigade where he served in all ranks up to and including Area Manager.
Phil wrote the business case for the merger of the former Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Services which was, at the time, the first voluntary merger of Services. He left Devon and Somerset FRS to join Cornwall FRS as Assistant Chief Fire Officer in 2014 as the head of operations. He also completed a short period as Chief Fire Officer in a temporary capacity.
Phil lives in Cornwall with his family and retires from the Service in August 2017 to join the MDM editorial team as Digital Editor. Phil said; “I am delighted to have been given the opportunity to join the team at MDM. I am looking forward to maintaining links with the Fire Sector and sharing news of innovation and activity across the broad and global sphere of fire engineering.”
